With 956 new COVID-19 infections, Panama reaches 79,402 total cases

The Ministry of Health of Panama (Minsa) reported that on Friday, August 14, 956 new infections of coronavirus were registered, bringing the accumulated number of cases in the country to 79,402.
Also today there are a total of 1,734 deaths due to COVID-19, with 12 new deaths and a fatality rate that remains at 2.2%.

To date, some 52,886 recovered people are reported, while 24,782 cases remain active, of which 22,516 remain in isolation at home and 606 are in hospital hotels.

1,507 people are hospitalized in the ward and 153 patients are in intensive care units.

Minsa adds that in the last 24 hours a total of 2,696 new tests have been carried out to detect COVID-19, with a positivity rate of 35.5%.
