Washington DC Mayor requests National Guard assistance amid migrant crisis
Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser has requested National Guard assistance for what she says is an influx of undocumented migrants into the city.
However, Republicans in southern states say the issue is nothing new and that they’ve been raising the alarm for years.
The Pentagon has yet to make a decision but says the Secretary take the request for assistance “very seriously”.
Border town mayors have said they’ve been grappling with the same crisis for 18 months without federal assistance.
