Vice President José Carrizo will be the first vaccinated with AstraZeneca in Panama

The AstraZeneca vaccine requires two doses to complete immunity, and in Panama it is recommended for men over 30 and women over 50.

José Gabriel Carrizo, Vice President of the Republic of Panama and Minister of the Presidency, will be the first person to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19 in the country.

This Thursday, April 22, the application of the AstraZeneca vaccine will begin to people who voluntarily signed up. Only men over 30 and women over 50 were allowed to register for this vaccine.

The Covax Mechanism delivered to Panama last Friday, April 16, the first batch of AstraZeneca vaccines. The total load was 36 thousand doses of the vaccine, with which the Ministry of Health plans to immunize 18 thousand people, guaranteeing the first and second doses with this batch.

The 18 thousand seats authorized to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine were exhausted in less than 24 hours. The platforms for the registration of volunteers were enabled on Tuesday afternoon and at noon on Wednesday there was no longer any space.

The vaccination day with AstraZeneca will start in the fast car of the Rommel Fernández Stadium, which will attend from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Although there are no longer places available for this first phase of application, the platforms enabled for the registration are:
