On a tour of the Kankintú district, President Laurentino Cortizo indicated "we must be entering the Comarca to vaccinate from the age of 12 upwards."
The president of Panama, Laurentino Cortizo , reported this Friday that the vaccination process against
COVID-19 in the Ngäbe Buglé Comarca will include children 12 years of age and older using the "sweeping" technique.
During a work tour of the Kankintú district, Cortizo said "we must be entering the Region to vaccinate (against
COVID-19) in phase 3 from 12 years upwards, over 12 years old."
He reiterated that the country depends on the number of doses supplied by pharmaceutical companies to advance the vaccination process.
Cortizo said there is no way to advance in the fight against
COVID-19 without working as a team with local authorities and the community. He added that the fight against this enemy is done by taking care and complying with biosafety measures because the country has not yet gained anything.
Last Monday, the United States drug agency (FDA) authorized the
vaccine against
COVID-19 from
Pfizer -
BioNTech for minors between the ages of 12 and 15.
The
Pfizer vaccine is the one with which Panama started its immunization plan against
COVID-19, and the most doses it has received.
Regarding the vaccination process in the province of Chiriquí, the Chief Executive reiterated that since yesterday, Thursday, May 14, 4-1 (David) and 4-2 (Barú) are on the circuit, where massive attendance has been shown.
On the first day of vaccination, about 12 thousand doses had been applied among the beneficiary circuits, which represents a great achievement on this day.
It should be noted that during the work tour, five beneficiaries were given checks "improving my non-refundable seed capital business" and so far in 2021, 50 thousand dollars have been awarded in the Region, among other projects and scholarships.
In addition, three “Cuidarte Backpacks” were delivered and so far in the year 835, these are equipped with educational items such as wooden blocks, cloth balls, puzzles, crayons and drawing books, which will allow the children to be stimulated from their homes.
