Unstable weather conditions warning issued until 14 June
Sinaproc issues this surveillance notice since possible floods are expected in urban areas of Panama and in the western sector of the country.
The National Civil Protection System of Panama ( Sinaproc ) reported that the unstable weather conditions over the national territory will remain until this Monday, June 14, according to the forecast of the Hydrometeorology Directorate of the Electric Transmission Company, SA (Etesa).
Faced with this situation, Sinaproc informs that we maintain a vigilance notice for possible floods in urban areas of Panama and in the western sector of the country.
The National Emergency Operations Center (COEN), through early warning systems, will continue to monitor rivers and streams in the Capital district and other parts of the country.
The entity pointed out that due to the heavy rains this afternoon, there were floods in the Plaza Valencia (Villa Zaita) and flooding in roads in the Capital district.
The units of the Northeast Base of the Sinaproc remain in the Plaza carrying out the evaluation of the affected houses. Together with the community, water suction pumps were used to reduce flood levels in this area.
In addition, the Search and Rescue units are traveling the sectors of Panamá Viejo and Río Abajo. In these areas the rivers are increased but in their channels.
