Tropical wave #48 could cause flooding in North Panama
The National System of Civil Protection of Panama (Sinaproc) issued this morning a warning before the passage of tropical wave # 48, which could generate intense rains throughout the day and flooding of rivers and streams in the localities of the North of the country.
Etesa's meteorologist, Emanuel Velásquez, warned that this would be a day for abundant rains and significant storms in the country. Possible adverse situations for the population Etesa will be generating new warnings.
While the Sinaproc issued a precautionary notice due to the probability of flooding of rivers and streams in sectors such as:
- Chiriquí (Barú and Tolé)
- Veraguas (Cañazas, La Mesa, Las Palmas and Soná)}
- Panama (Chimán and Sur de Chepo)
- Darién (South of Chepigana)
- Comarca Emberá Wounaan (Cirilo Emberá)
In addition, moderate to heavy rains with possible lightnings were foreseen until 2:50 pm in communities such as Bocas del Toro, Comarca Ngäbe Buglé, Chiriquí; Veraguas (Center and South); Los Santos, Bay and Gulf of Panama, Herrera, Coclé, Panama Oeste, Panama (Chepo, Chimán, North Region), Darien and the Emberá Wounaan Region.
The authorities advise the population residing in these sectors and near vulnerable areas to take due precautions against possible weather events.
