The Presidency has not provided information on pandemic related purchases despite the ruling

The Independent Movement for Panama (Movin) said that the Ministry of the Presidency continues not to provide information on the payment commitments made for purchases made to face the covid-19 pandemic, despite the request for data that the Court admitted to Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ).
Movin recalled that on May 6, 2020, they requested, based on the Transparency Law, detailed information on letters of payment commitments issued by the Ministry of the Presidency for emergency purchases to face the pandemic.

However, when they did not receive a response to the requested information, Movin filed a habeas data with the CSJ in October 2020, which was ruled in favor on February 24, 2021, ordering the Ministry of the Presidency to deliver said information on purchases by the pandemic.

The Ministry of the Presidency makes it clear that the information was given to us, based on the fact that the payment commitments were canceled, says Movin.

The movement indicated that the fact that the documents that supported these acts have been annulled does not exempt them from responsibility or from rendering accounts and explaining the final destination of the commitments acquired.

In this sense, Movin again requested the Ministry of the Presidency to comply with the Transparency Law and provide data on the payment orders issued.
