The epidemiological report presented this Tuesday, December 22 by the Ministry of Health (Minsa), reflects that the number of effective reproduction or Rt of COVID-19 in Panama is currently at 1.08.
Our known effective reproduction index or RT for this week is 1.08, we must take into account that regions such as Herrera, Coclé, Chiriquí, the Guna Yala Comarca and the Ngäbe-Buglé Comarca have RT below one, unlike the provinces of Darién, Colón, Los Santos, San Miguelito, Bocas del Toro and Panama Metro that continue with RT trends above one, explained Dr. Leonardo Labrador, national head of epidemiology at the
Minsa.
Regarding the townships that maintain a RT above 1, he pointed out those of: Santa Ana, Tocumen, El Chorrillo, Don Bosco, San Felipe, Juan Díaz, Parque Lefevre, Río Abajo, December 24, Veracruz, San Francisco, Bella Vista, Pedregal, Betania and Las Mañanitas.
He also mentioned the townships of Victoriano Lorenzo, Mateo Iturralde, Belisario Porras, Rufina Alfaro, José Domingo Espinar, Arnulfo Arias, Belisario Frías, Amelia Denis De Icaza, Pacora, San Martín, Chepo, Las Margaritas, Ernesto Córdoba Campos, Las Cumbres, Chilibre , Gualaca, David, Cañaza, Montijo, Atalaya, Santiago, Guararé, Las Tablas, Los Santos, Ocú, Pesé, Natá, Arraiján, Colón, among others.
Labrador added that in the last 14 days, the regions of Panama Oeste, Metropolitana, Panamá Norte, San Miguelito and Darién, are the ones with the highest incidence of active cases, while in the case of deaths, there is an increasing trend after the weeks of rising daily active cases, and the groups of people over 60 years of age remain the most vulnerable.
