Sucre warned that although there is 14% of the population vaccinated against covid-19, you cannot lower your guard against the possibility of a third wave.
The Minister of Health of Panama, Luis
Sucre warned that although 14% of the population is already vaccinated against
covid-19, it does not mean that herd immunity has been achieved.
“The fact of getting vaccinated does not make us lower our guard, that the fact that the
vaccine is being distributed in the country does not mean that nothing is happening and that we can relax and neglect biosecurity standards, which would bring us a possible third wave,” said Luis
Sucre.
According to Minister Luis
Sucre, a person who received two doses of the
covid-19
vaccine has a low probability of developing the serious virus, it does not mean that you have to lower your guard and neglect biosecurity measures.
“The most important thing is not whether one is infected or not, the problem is that we do not know the evolution of the disease in each one of us. If we are vaccinated, the
vaccine, logically, is to reinforce your immune system,” said Luis
Sucre.
According to the Expanded Immunization Program of the Ministry of Health, 1,031,694 doses of the
Pfizer or
AstraZeneca vaccine against
covid-19 have been applied to date.
