The Minister of Health of Panama Luis Francisco Sucre said this Friday that the cost of one room per day in a hospital hotel suitable for the accommodation and care of patients with COVID-19, can range between $35 and $40 "maximum".
When asked about the value of hospital hotel contracts,
Sucre explained that this depends on the type of hotel and the use in a room per day of the services of light, water and cleaning that is given in each one of them, with the cost included.
He indicated that there are some 'more expensive and others lower', therefore, they are working on enabling shelters to try to reduce expenses, since they are using state facilities.
Cleaning in hospital hotels is done daily, and the cost is is almost 8$ per room.
The health minister maintained that the setting up of shelters only deals with the cleaning, laundry and care of patients with
coronavirus.
The health minister's statements were made during a visit and meeting with local authorities of the Traceability Operations Center in the province of Coclé.
