The Minister of Health of Panama, Luis Sucre asked the Budget Commission of the National Assembly (AN), to be allowed to restructure the budget of the Ministry of Health for fiscal year 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The budget prepared in March of this year contemplated $2.055 billion for the Ministry of Health (
Minsa).
We want to ask you to give us the opportunity to restructure this budget, since it has nothing to do with what we really need in the country today versus what we demonstrated in March. In March we were in another Panama, today we have a different country, with different needs,
Sucre said in support of his request.
He indicated that the situation due to the pandemic entails other expenses in terms of equipment, human resources and supplies.
During her speech, deputy Yanibel Ábrego explained to Minister
Sucre that she must make the request for restructuring the budget to the Commission through a note, before it is approved.
