Sinaproc lifts preventive green alert nationwide
Despite the lifting of the alert, surveillance and monitoring protocols will be maintained in areas vulnerable to floods and landslides.
The National Civil Protection System ( Sinaproc ) of Panama lifted this Saturday the preventive green alert that it had issued since August 25, in relation to the high accumulated rains and electrical storms, which were expected in several provinces of the country.
The measure, which cancels the alert, is due to the improvements in weather conditions registered in the last hours.
This alert arose from the interaction between the Intertropical Convergence Zone, the Low Pressure System, and the gradual incursion of Tropical Wave # 31 on the national territory .
Despite the improvements, some instability in the climate will remain, Sinaproc warned.
The entity, through the National Emergency Operations Center (COEN), maintains monitoring and surveillance in areas vulnerable to floods and landslides.
For this Saturday, August 28, partial cloudy skies are expected throughout the country. In the afternoon, downpours of varying intensity are expected in various sectors of the national territory.
