Sinaproc attended 1,937 emergencies during 2020, 612 were due to floods
Fulfilling its mission of safeguarding human life, the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) attended some 1,937 emergency situations throughout the country.
Of the total emergencies, 612 were due to floods, the provinces of Panama, Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro, Veraguas, Panama Oeste and Coclé being the most affected; another 600 for the removal of trees at risk fallen on homes and roads.
They also carried out 65 searches, 35 rescues, 61 transfers to hospital centers; they attended to 91 structural collapses, 37 fires, 67 roof collapses, 39 river and stream overflows, 174 landslides and 32 pre-hospital care, among others.
During the environmental emergency due to the indirect effects of hurricanes Eta and Iota, in November there were more than 1,139 rescues and some 1,793 sheltered in the provinces of Chiriquí, Bocas del Toro, Comarca Ngabe Bugle and Darién.
Sinaproc supported with the delivery of more than 536,024 bags of food at the provincial level.
