In actions carried out between January 1 and April 15, 202, the security forces of Panama have seized more than 35 tons of drugs, reported the Ministry of Security ( Minseg ).
The Ministry detailed that until April 15 of this year, 61% of the seized drug corresponds to cocaine 21% marijuana through 182 interventions carried out to achieve these seizures, with 62% of actions carried out through seizures and 38 % have been findings made by the units of the security estates.
According to the Ministry of Education, 36% of this drug has been seized in the province of Colón, 16% in the province of Panama, 15% in the province of Chiriquí and 13% in West Panama.
Through these actions, the Security units have made 200 arrests for drug trafficking, 177 men and 23 women; Of these arrests, 153 are Panamanian citizens, 37 Colombians, 5 Costa Ricans, 4 Nicaraguans, and one US citizen.
51% of the drug seized until April 15, 2021 was transported using maritime means such as ships, boats or boats, while 39% was moved through the use of containers, indicated the Minseg.
On the other hand, 91% of the seizures registered in the first 3 and a half months of 2021 occurred in the maritime sector.
The Minister of Public Security, Juan Manuel Pino, pointed out that in less than four days, the units of the security forces have managed to seize more than four tons of drugs.
