Saint Laurent conquers the desert

Saint Laurent conquers the desert

A collection that rethinks the idea of freedom and that focuses on the essence of things. Fluid and soft shapes make you rediscover the pleasure of dressing

The sky and the sand are the background for the presentation of the new Spring Summer 2021 collection by Saint Laurent . "Wish you were here" is the message that Anthony Vaccarello sends to the public, a few concise words, the right ones, because in this historical moment there is nothing more beautiful than being told "I wish you were here" . And it is precisely from the forced confinement to which we have been obliged for too long that the idea of a collection is born in the designer that investigates a new concept of freedom that now becomes synonymous with carefree, lightness and light.

"I wanted to focus on the essence of things . I think it is a sign of the times. But I didn't want anything dark or heavy. The desert, for me, symbolizes that desire to serenity, of open space, of a slower pace. Even the clothes are softer, the collection is delicate and stripped of any excess " says Anthony Vaccarello.

The models seem to float more than walk. Gentle creatures that juggle the desert dunes with grace, as if nothing and no one could touch them. Warm tones, such as the location, feathers, transparencies, lace and even a hint of sparkle. The desire is to outline the body without forcing it, embracing it gently. It is the freedom of movement and the pure and soft shapes that are the masters. So here are silk shirts, elegant sweaters with Bardot necklines, dresses in chiffon with floral or solid colors, long jackets that enhance the silhouette, jumpsuits with deep and sensual necklines, one-shoulder dresses with a see-through effect and vareuses with pockets spacious. For accessories, the focus is on gold, which we find on necklaces, pendant and sculptural earrings, bracelets and belt buckles, which give uniqueness to each look, enhancing the physicality of the models.
