Rubén Blades is the "Person of the Year" of the Latin Grammys 2021

The Latin Recording Academy announced today that Rubén Blades will be the Person of the Year for the twenty-second edition.
That pride! Maestro Rubén Blades has just been named " Person of the Year " by the Latin Recording Academy, better known as the Latin Grammy.

The winner of eight Latin Grammys and nine Grammys, singer-songwriter, producer, musician, actor and activist, Rubén Blades, will be recognized for his continued commitment in the fight for social justice, supporting programs around the world that raise awareness about political oppression. hunger and poverty, among others. With his music, and songs like "Forbidden to forget", "Looking for America" ​​and "Disappearances", he has been a promoter of positive and significant change in the Latino communities and beyond.

The twenty-second edition of The Latin Grammys has not yet been dated and details have not been announced, however, they made it clear that the ceremony will be a special gala with the participation of renowned music stars in an emotional tribute concert for Rubén Blades that will include performances of his well-known repertoire by an impressive array of notable artists and friends.

It should be noted that the last honoree by the Latin Recording Academy was the Colombian singer-songwriter Juanes in 2019.
