In the Official Gazette of Panama, the Resolution of the Ministry of Health No. 1369 of December 4, 2020, which establishes the curfew in the province of West Panama (Panama Oeste), from Monday to Sunday, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 am, starting this Friday.
The regulations indicate that the exceptions contemplated in article 2 of Executive Decree No. 507 of March 24, 2020 are maintained.
In the second article, the Resolution establishes the dry law for this province, which has been restricted due to the increase in cases of
COVID-19 and non-compliance with biosafety regulations.
The sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited in the province of Panama Oeste, from 7:00 pm to 5:00 am from Monday to Sunday. This prohibition includes the delivery service during the established hours.
The provision establishes that the sanctions for non-compliance with this provision, in accordance with the provisions of Article 234 of the Political Constitution of the Republic, will be the responsibility of the municipal authorities.
This afternoon the Minister of Public Security, Juan Pino, met with the local authorities of the province of Panama Oeste to coordinate the actions to be taken on the curfew that will take place from this Friday.
The mayors of La Chorrera, Arraiján, Chame, Capira and San Carlos, as well as the commissioners of the National Police and the health authorities of these areas presented their points of view to ensure compliance with these new provisions.
