Dr. Leonardo Labrador, national head of Epidemiology of Panama, indicated that this week the number of effective reproduction of COVID-19 or Rt had a slight decrease to 0.89 compared to 0.99 the previous week.
This, according to Dr. Labrador, is an indication that the virus is kept in some control.
The report also indicated that the case fatality rate of the virus remained at 1.7%, after there were some 5,944 deaths in the country due to the virus, which marked one year on March 9 after arriving in the country.
Labrador also indicated that the sex most affected by the virus in the mortality rate is the male and the age that registers the most deaths is that of 85 years and over.
The regions in which the most deaths have occurred this week are San Miguelito, the Metropolitan area, Panama East, Panama West and Guna Yala.
