Regional Director of Health of Veraguas relieved from office due to irregularities in vaccination

The Minister of Health of Panama, Luis Francisco Sucre announced at the conference on Tuesday, February 23, that he was relieving the Regional Director of Health of Veraguas, Ovidio Mendoza, after the irregularities reported in the vaccination process against COVID-19 .
"We also want to announce that due to the situation presented in the province of Veraguas, more precisely in the Santiago area, where part of the team for some reason have made exceptions from the plan of the continuous vaccination strategy. These actions are not supported by this administration. We are referring to the vaccination of people who were outside the vaccination schedule, therefore we have made the decision to relieve the Regional Director of Veraguas from office," said the minister.

The situation became known after videos of the irregular vaccination that took place at the La Primavera School where people not included in Phase 1, Stage 1-A, were leaked through social networks.
