Abren licitación para 6 planes de ordenamiento turísticos

Public tender for 6 tourism management plans open until November 20

The Ministry of Housing and Land Use Planning (Miviot) reported this Tuesday that consulting firms have until November 20 to participate in the public bidding for land use plans (POT) for six tourist districts throughout the country.
He explains that the tender documents and the organization for the tender were coordinated by the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) in conjunction with Miviot, for the plans for the next decade in the areas of Pedasí, Bocas del Toro, Boquete, Tierras Altas, Soná and Taboga.

It is a project that was signed by the Republic of Panama through a loan contract with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), whose executor is the ATP and aims to contribute to the urban and socioeconomic development of small and intermediate cities tourist vocation.

José Batista, vice minister of Territorial Planning, details that they will be comprehensive territorial planning plans that will be emphasized on the subject of tourism, but that does not mean that it is not included in other plans that are developed in other parts of the country; adding that the project is comprised of three components: infrastructure and urban management, tourism equipment and community development; and modernization of political governance.

With the development of these plans, the set of objectives, guidelines, policies, strategies, programs and standards adopted to guide and manage the physical development of the district's territory and the use of the land and coastal marine areas are defined. In addition, that tourism development is integrated into current development dynamics under the concept of sustainable tourism, seeking to improve the quality of life of its inhabitants through the balanced and sustainable development of the territory, says Miviot.

The ATP indicates that only one representation may be submitted for each firm and they must provide information indicating that they are qualified to provide the services.

On the other hand, Batista announced that the POT of Aguadulce, Portobelo is about to be completed and there are requests from several districts, but they will give priority to Penonomé and Las Tablas; At the same time, he announced that Miviot will also soon call a public tender for the plans for the Arraiján and La Chorrera districts; The contract for Santiago and Atalaya is in the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic, and Chepo's plan is being carried out with resources from the institution, which will cover the entire area.
