The Bocas del Toro Regional Prosecutor's Office requested the call to trial for nine people investigated for the alleged commission of the crimes of homicide, femicide and deprivation of liberty, linked to an alleged religious sect that operated in the community of El Terrón, Santa Catalina, Ngäbe Buglé region.

According to the investigations, the defendants are residents of El Terrón and were members of a religious sect called "Church of God."

This investigation originated in January 2020, when seven corpses, six minors (3 boys and 3 girls of 1, 3, 9, 9, 11 and 17 years old) were located inside a common grave; and a 32-year-old pregnant woman.
