The President of the Republic of Panama, Laurentino Cortizo, arrived this Monday afternoon in Texas, United States, with the aim of attracting foreign investment.
During the work tour, the Panamanian president is scheduled to hold meetings with different investors from this country.
“This is a mission with the objective of attracting foreign investment here in the state of Texas, today we are in Dallas, right now I have a lunch with the Chamber of Commerce of Dublin, Texas, in the afternoon we have a meeting with the CEO of Energy Transfer, we are going to be signing a memorandum of understanding,” explained President Cortizo upon his arrival in Texas.
He added that at night he will travel to Austin where he will visit the University of Texas seeing different areas, not only the subject of sports, especially everything related to the subject of performance, but also, he will meet with the president of the University, and will be watching a series of high-tech labs.
For Wednesday he has a lunch scheduled with the Austin Chamber of Commerce and a series of executives, and later he will arrive in Houston where he will have another lunch with the Chamber of Commerce and will visit the port of this city.
"When we design the Economic Recovery Plan one of the points is the attraction of foreign direct investment, and that is what we are looking for, looking for good investments, investments for Panama that generate employment," Cortizo stressed.
It is worth mentioning that this is the first visit that the President of Panama has made abroad since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. He will return to Panama next Friday, July 16.
