President Cortizo condemns the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise
Through a brief statement, President Laurentino Cortizo joins the sentiment of the leaders of the region who condemn the assassination in Haiti.
ThePresident of the Republic Laurentino Cortizo manifested through his Twitter account and in a short message that he regretted the murder of his Haitian counterpartJovenel Moise, which occurred at dawn this Wednesday.
"Panama strongly regrets and condemns the assassination of the President of Haiti, Jovenel Moïse. Our solidarity with his family and the Haitian people. Panama calls for unity so that Haiti finds social peace and the restoration of its democratic institutions," The Panamanian president highlights in the tweet.
The Haitian president was assassinated this Wednesday at his home by a commando made up of foreigners, outgoing Prime Minister Claude Joseph announced.
Moise has ruled by decree Haiti, the poorest country on the American continent, after the legislative elections scheduled for 2018 were delayed.
After the assassination, Haiti closed the airport and the Dominican Republic also closed its borders with this country, to find the murderers, who are presumed to be a group of foreigners.
