Police arrest four men and a woman for attempt to kidnap President Cortizo's brother
The National Police apprehended this Thursday five people who tried to kidnap Moisés Cortizo Cohen, one of the brothers of the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo, in the Peñas Blanca sector in La Mitra in La Chorrera.
The arrested are four men and one woman, according to the Office of the Prosecutor Against Organized Crime of the Public Ministry. "Of which four are Panamanian and one Venezuelan," he said.
Authorities also seized a gray sedan vehicle.
Earlier it was reported that Moisés Cortizo, a former military man, was in the aforementioned region to negotiate the purchase of a farm. Upon arriving at the scene, the subjects tried to kidnap him, according to police sources reported to Mi Diario.
The victim Moisés Cortizo Cohen is in good health and has spoken to five of his siblings after the incident.
A press conference on the matter is expected to happen in coming hours.
