Through the social network Twitter, Miró announced his nomination as "Best Actor in a Short Film" in the Panamanian short film "La Sonrisa de Gerta".
The short film is directed by filmmaker Raquel Toledo Bernal and starring actress Gina F Cochez, who plays Gerta.
"Gerta's Smile" is based on a true story. In 1938 Gerta and Munio Stern, a couple of Austrian Jews, concerned about the growing anti-Semitism, travel to Hamburg to withdraw their visas from South Africa. At the embassy they are told that their visas are delayed, when in fact all countries have suspended visas for Jews. Munio is arrested on the Night of Broken Glass and sent to the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. Gerta tries to obtain visas to a makeshift destination, Panama, while planning to free her husband from prison and escape together.
It should be noted that other renowned Panamanians such as Juanxo Villaverde, Lorena Arosemena and Mónica Gronchi also act in the short film. Also the much remembered former Calle 7, Jorge López.
