It would be the batch with the largest quantity of vaccines that Panama receives to reinforce the immunization strategy.
The Vice Minister of Health, Ivette Berrío, announced that next week Panama will receive more than 460 thousand doses of the
vaccine against
COVID-19 from
Pfizer.
As detailed, in the Face to Face program broadcast by Telemetro, through the bilateral agreement with the pharmaceutical company
Pfizer, 363,870 doses will reach the country; while through the
COVAX mechanism, some 100,000 doses will arrive in Panama.
With this new shipment, it is expected to advance significantly with anticovid vaccination at the national level.
Currently, in most parts of Panama older adults, health and safety personnel, chronic patients and those with disabilities have been immunized. In addition, there are areas of the country where vaccination sweeps have been carried out due to their high contagion rate.
To date, more than 1.7 million doses of
coronavirus vaccines have been applied, of which 1.3 have been from the pharmaceutical company
Pfizer, and more than 466 thousand from
AstraZeneca, which so far has been applied voluntarily to older men and women 30 years.
In recent weeks, health authorities have warned that most infections are occurring in young people between 20 and 40 years old; it is precisely the population that has not been immunized.
In this sense, hundreds of young people ask that vaccination be open to all public, so that they can also be protected.
"Currently, in Panama older adults, health and safety personnel, chronic patients and those with disabilities have been immunized."
This statement is not true!!
Older adults and those with chronic conditions have not been vaccinated with Pfizer vaccine in Cocle, specifically not in Anton.
