The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor of the Public Ministry (MP) initiated an ex-officio investigation for the alleged commission of a crime against the public administration, after finding bags of food from the Panama Solidario assistance program in a residence in San Francisco.
During the search procedure, one person was arrested.
The Superior Anti-Corruption Prosecutor of the MP, Ruth Morcillo, explained that the investigation began after "various organizations made known the presence, in a private residence, of a large number of food bags owned by Panama Solidario, among other articles."
Videos and images of the unloading of food bags and milk boxes at the residence were released on Foco Panama's social networks. Morcillo indicated that at the moment the amount of Panama Solidario articles that may be on the site is unknown.
These food bags are given to families affected economically due to the pandemic and to patients with COVID-19 during their home isolation.
The MP seeks to determine the origin of these bags and the reason why they were in that residence.
