The Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, sent a note this Wednesday, February 3 to Kirill Dmitriev , CEO of the Russian Fund for Direct Investment, to express Panama's interest in acquiring 3 million Sputnik V vaccine, to vaccinate 1.5 million people against Covid-19.
According to the note sent by
Sucre, Panama wanted these
vaccines to begin shipping to the country as of March 2021.
The information came out after the note sent to the Russian Fund for Direct Investment, based in the city of Moscow, was leaked on Thursday.
On February 2, it was known that the Russian Sputnik V
vaccine has an efficacy of 91.6% against
Covid-19 in its symptomatic manifestations.
The above is the conclusion of clinical trials published by The Lancet medical journal and validated by independent experts.
Like the rest of the
vaccines against
Covid-19, after the first dose, the second must be given after 21 days to achieve an immunization against the new
coronavirus.
In a part of the note,
Sucre informs Dmitriev that it would be ready to issue authorization for the
vaccine through the Department of Pharmacies and Drugs of the Ministry of Health.
