Panama registered 598 new cases of COVID-19 and 21 new deaths in the last 24 hours, reported the Ministry of Health (Minsa).
With these figures, the
Minsa reported that the total accumulated cases is 82,790 and 1,809 deaths from this virus with a fatality rate of 2.2%.
In the last hours, 2,704 new tests were carried out to detect
COVID-19 for a 22% positivity. In total, 276,389 tests have been carried out, of which 191,523 have been negative.
There are a total of 23,790 active cases and 1,346 new recovered patients for a total of 57,191.
Of the active patients, there are a total of 22,154 in isolation, of which 21,625 are at home and 529 in hotels, while 1,636 are hospitalized (1,483 in ward and 153 in intensive care).
In the epidemiological report released on August 17, the
Minsa had reported a total of 82,543 accumulated cases. With the figures reported on August 18, the total number of cases should exceed 83 thousand infections, however the entity reported that a purification of repeated cases was carried out.
Regarding the number of cases and deaths according to age group, the majority of confirmed cases remain in patients between 20 and 39 years old and 40 and 59 years old, while the highest fatality remains in groups of people older than 60 and 80 years.
The townships that reported new cases are: David (25), Las Cumbres (19), Ailigandí (13), Pedregal (13), Tocumen (13), Alcalde Díaz (12), Ernesto Córdoba Campos (12), Pacora (12 ), Chilibre (11), Dolega (11), December 24 (10), Arraiján (10), Chepo (10) and Juan Díaz (10).
