Panama reports 579 new COVID-19 infections and 8 new deaths

The Minsa report indicates that Panama accumulates 372,800 COVID-19 infections and there are 5,821 active cases.
The epidemiological report for this Thursday, May 20, highlights that in Panama some 579 new cases of COVID-19 have been registered, which brings the accumulated infections to 372,800.

In addition, the report of the Ministry of Health ( Minsa ) details that in the last 24 hours there have been about 8 new deaths (one from a previous date is updated), increasing to 6,314 deaths from this new coronavirus in the country. The case fatality rate of the virus is 1.7%.

So far, some 360,665 people have recovered from this virus and active cases are set at 5,821.

From this last figure, it stands out that there are 5,164 people confined to their homes, while another 274 are staying in hospital hotels.

While in hospital wards there are 325 confined patients and 58 remain in intensive care units.

In the last hours in the country, some 10,038 new tests have been carried out to detect COVID-19, which have yielded a positivity of 5.7%.
