For this Sunday, the Minsa report does not register deaths from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours for the first time since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
Panama registered this Sunday, May 16, some 344 new cases of COVID
-19 , which raised the accumulated infections to 370,877.
The epidemiological report of the Ministry of Health ( Minsa
) detailed that in the last hours there were no deaths for the first time since the first case of COVID
-19 was registered in Panama in the month of March 2020; which keeps the number of deaths from coronavirus
in the country at 6,296. The case fatality rate of the virus is 1.7%.
So far in the country some 359,214 have been reported as recovered and another 5,367 remain as active cases.
Regarding this last statistic, the authorities specified that there are 4,768 people confined to their homes and 258 are staying in hospital hotels.

has applied 6,626 tests, and maintains a positivity percentage of 5.1%.
