Panama registers 932 new COVID-19 cases and 7 new deaths in 24 hours, Rt below 1

The Minsa report indicates that for today there are 418,935 recovered patients in Panama, and 11,958 cases remain active.

The number of accumulated cases of coronavirus in Panama rose to 437,744 for this Tuesday, August 3, after registering a total of 932 new infections.

The death toll from COVID-19 also increased to 6,851, after accounting for 7 new deaths and updating 2 deaths from previous dates. The fatality rate in the country remains at 1.6%.

To date in Panama there are a total of 11,958 cases that remain active, of which 11,046 are in home isolation and 342 are in hospital hotels.

The Minsa reported that for today 468 hospitalized patients are registered in the ward, while 102 are kept in intensive care units.

In addition, the Minsa report indicates that 418,935 recovered patients are counted in Panama today.

A total of 10,805 tests to detect COVID -19 have been carried out in the last 24 hours, and the positivity is 8.6%.

Effective Reproduction Number or Rt

The head of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), Leonardo Labrador, detailed that for this week the number of effective reproduction or Rt of COVID-19 in Panama remains at 1 at the national level.

He added that for their part, the regions maintain a RT below 1 or around 1, "which means that the duplication of the virus remains in control in our country."
