Panama receives new batch of Pfizer vaccines with 375,570 doses

Our World in Data reveals that Panama is in the tenth position in the world in the placement of vaccines against COVID-19, says the Minsa.

Panama received this Tuesday, August 10, a new batch of vaccines against COVID-19 of the formula developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, with 375,570 new doses.

This is the twenty-ninth batch of vaccines, which will be used to continue the vaccination process carried out by Operation Panavac in Panama.

According to the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI) in Panama since last January and until yesterday Monday afternoon, the application of 3,184,408 doses of the vaccine against covid-19 had been reported.

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) approved sweeping from the age of 12 in the following circuits 4-2, 4-4 and 4-6 in the province of Chiriquí; at 6-1 in Herrera and 7-2 in Los Santos.

The process through the sweeping mechanism will begin this Wednesday, August 11, for 5 days; While in circuits 8-8 (Juan Díaz) and 8-10 (Panama East), it will be from 16 years onwards and from 12 in chronic patients or certified disability.

The Minsa reported that Our World in Data mentioned that Panama is in the tenth position in the world in the placement of vaccines against COVID-19, with more than a quarter of the population vaccinated.

Currently, in Panama doses of vaccines against COVID-19 developed by Pfizer and AstraZeneca are being applied.

The entity reiterates that the vaccination process in the country's circuits will continue with the application of Pfizer vaccines, in parallel in auto-rapid vaccines, it is being voluntarily inoculated with the dose of AstraZeneca to men and women from the age of 30.

The Minsa asks the population to register and verify themselves through vacunas.panamasolidario.gob.pa/verificate/ enabled to notify the day, time and place where the dose will be applied.
