This is the second delivery that the pharmaceutical AstraZeneca makes to Panama through the bilateral mechanism.
On the afternoon of this Saturday, June 12, the fourth batch of the
covid-19
vaccine developed by the pharmaceutical company
AstraZeneca arrived in Panama, with 204 thousand doses.
The Avianca flight carrying this new shipment of the
covid-19
vaccine was expected to land in the country at 4:00 p.m., however, it arrived after 5:30 p.m.
This is the second delivery that
AstraZeneca makes to Panama through the bilateral mechanism called
Covax.
The other two batches of the
AstraZeneca vaccine that arrived in the country were through the
Covax mechanism, promoted by the World Health Organization (WHO).
In total, Panama has received 518,400 doses of the
AstraZeneca preparation, 110,400 through
Covax and 408,000 bilaterally.
Dr. Wagayoguna Díaz, regional health director of Guna Yala who received the batch of
vaccines, reported that the immunization process with this
vaccine will soon begin in the region.
In Panama, the
AstraZeneca covid-19
vaccine is being applied voluntarily to men and women over 30 years of age.
According to the Expanded Program on Immunization (PAI) in Panama, 1,207,995 doses of the
vaccine against
covid-19 have been applied since last January, both from
AstraZeneca and
Pfizer.
