Panama has suspended the international parcel delivery and delivery service since last April, the Directorate General of Post of Panama of the Ministry of Government reported on Thursday.
This happened after the United States Postal Service issued an alert of temporary suspension of the acceptance of international mail from at least 14 countries, including Panama, due to the impacts of the service by
COVID-19.
Given this, the director of Post and Telegraphs of Panama, Julio Ramírez, stated that all the countries of the Universal Postal Union can make the decision to accept or not correspondence from any country for security measures.
The General Post Office of Panama explains that the suspension of the international parcel delivery and delivery service was suspended after the closure of Tocumen International Airport due to the pandemic and for being the only reference operating agent that works with this entity in shipping postal charge.
The public will be notified once the parcel service is reactivated, taking into account all the measures of the Ministry of Health to avoid infections by
COVID-19.
The Post Office of Panama keeps on offering its services of money orders, money transfers and parcels nationwide on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, and on Wednesdays from 11: 00 am to 3:00 pm.
