The epidemiological report of Covid-19 in the country indicates that this Monday, May 11, five new deaths due to the virus are confirmed.
In Panama total 249 deaths and 8,616 accumulated cases have been confirmed to date.
Health Minister Rosario Turner explained that 168 new cases of
Covid-19 have been reported this Monday.
Turner noted that the country has a case fatality rate of 2.8%, lower than the world average estimated at 7%.
She added that the country has 42% of the beds in intensive care units available. In addition, there are 49% of the beds available in the wards of the different hospitals in the country.
The official highlighted that 67% of fans are available in the country, both in the public and private sectors.
Another fact that Turner highlighted is that due to breaking the rules of physical distancing, quarantine and the curfew in the country, the virus has doubled the number of cases every 20 days.
