The Expanded Immunization Program (PAI) confirmed this Friday, August 6, that to date in Panama at least 3 million doses have been applied against Covid-19.
The vaccination campaign against the new
coronavirus began on January 21 with the personnel who are in the first line of battle against the virus and about seven months later, the number of doses applied reached 3,006,726.
Between the months of July and August, the Health authorities expanded the coverage of people immunized with the sweeping strategy in different circuits nationwide.
This week is the third in which the strategy is applied and currently those over 16 years of age are being immunized in Los Santos, Coclé, Chiriquí, Darién and Panama Oeste and Panama. Similarly, minors between 12 and 15 years of age with chronic diseases and with a certified disability are being vaccinated.
In circuit 1-1 (Bocas del Toro) people over 12 years of age and older are being vaccinated.
Regarding the day of this Friday, the Ministry of Health reported that until the cut-off of 1:00 pm in Coclé, 2,568 doses were applied, in Panama Oeste 8,100, in San Francisco (Panama) 1,446, in Bocas del Toro 3 thousand 833 doses, in northern Panama 7 thousand 110 doses and in Los Santos 3 thousand 897 doses.
In the vaccinometer enabled by the Authority for Government Innovation this Friday, until 6:30 pm, 63 thousand 13 doses have been applied.
To date, Panama has received 3.8 million doses against the virus, including
vaccines from
Pfizer and
AstraZeneca.
