By the third quarter of the year, in Panama the young population without chronic diseases or disabilities could be vaccinated, according to the authorities.
During the management report of the President of the Republic of Panama , Laurentino Cortizo, on his two years in office, announced the possibility of receiving 2022 in Panama without wearing a mask in open spaces.
"If we continue to comply with the biosecurity measures, and the vaccines
continue to arrive, we can celebrate the new year without the need to use masks in open spaces," he said.
Panama registered its first case of COVID
-19 on March 9, 2020. To date, 403,778 infections and 6,545 deaths have been registered. The lethality is 1.6% and the reproduction rate of the virus is above 1.0.
In January 2021, the vaccination against COVID
