Over 2,600 workers have already returned to their positions
Some 2,634 workers have already been reinstated to their positions, after the start of operations of the first block companies to reactivate the economy.
It is expected that the number will increase as of Monday when block 2 starts working, announced by the Minister of Labor and Labor Development (Mitradel), Doris Zapata.
"The companies that are going to reopen must notify Mitradel online how many workers will be reinstated to their jobs. Currently, there are more than 200,000 contracts suspended as a result of the coronavirus crisis," said Zapata.
She indicated that it is very important to carry out this registration in order to return to normality and guarantee new normal work conditions to workers.
Regarding the possibility that companies may not rehire all their workers and dodging to pay their severance, the minister was emphatic and said that the current Labor Code is in force and must be followed.
"From Mitradel's side we are going to guarantee that all these issues are met, although we understand the situation that companies are going through," she added.
