The Ombudsman's Office reported this Sunday that they will continue to offer their services in person from January 4 to 14, 2021 (during total quarantine in the provinces of Panama and West Panama).
The human rights officers will attend from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm at the main headquarters located in Plaza Ágora Transístmica, as well as in its Regionals of Panama North, Panama West, Chepo and San Miguelito, which was established in Resolution No. 156 of December 30, 2020.
According to article 12 of Law No. 7 by which the Ombudsman's Office is created, the exercise of its powers will be uninterrupted and will not be limited to business days, nor does the declaration of a state of emergency impede the functions of its powers, says a statement from the institution.
The entity will also have available to users to receive uninterrupted complaints, requests, orientations and procedures, the telephone lines 500-9800 and 127 which is free, through the website www.defensoria.gob.pa, to the email quejas@defensoria.gob.pa and by WhatsApp messaging at 6670 -2222.
Likewise, it is reported that the rest of the Regional Offices of the Ombudsman's Office at the national level, which will continue to provide their service at regular hours to all users, complying with all biosecurity measures.
The Resolution of the Ombudsman's Office, states that the new sanitary measures due to the high rate of
COVID-19 infections, to which the entity welcomes, leads citizens to demand timely attention to their needs, which in many occasions it is evidenced in protests, complaints, requests and petitions that require the intervention of the governing institution of Human Rights.
