Directors of the Public Security bodies of Panama offered this Friday, April 9, details of the results of operations carried out against organized crime during the month of March 2021.
Units of the National Police (PN) seized 1,449 packages with drugs, including cocaine and marijuana, and 178,398 dollars were seized from criminal organizations, in coordination with officials from the Public Ministry (MP).
They captured 307 people for micro-trafficking and 25 for drug trafficking.
96 vehicles were also recovered through search procedures carried out by the National Police, which had complaints of robbery and theft, 231 firearms involved in criminal acts and 7,261 ammunition were seized.
Meanwhile, during the month of March a total of 4,296 people were placed under the orders of a Justice of the Peace for failing to comply with the curfew due to the
covid-19 pandemic, of which 4,104 are adults and 192 minors.
While 55,975 infractions were placed through road safety operations.
For its part, the National Aeronaval Service (Senan) of Panama seized 5,400 packages of drugs on the Pacific coast and 1,984 packages on the Caribbean coast.
Through these operations against drug trafficking, 22 people of different nationalities and 9 boats were seized.
The National Border Service (Senafront) of Panama, for its part, seized 608 kilos of drugs, seized two boats and captured 54 people.
