Mother and daughter die in traffic accident in Chiriquí

The celebrations of Mother's Day were not yet over in Panama when a tragic traffic accident overshadowed the festivities, taking the life of a woman and her baby.
The accident occurred on the Inter-American highway at the entrance to Jacú, in the province of Chiriquí, when a pickup-type vehicle hit the car where the approximately 26-year-old mother and her 9-month-old baby, who were traveling as companions of the driver, and who in the preliminary investigations made a turn to enter the Jacú community prior the incident.

The paramedic team from the Meritorious Panama Fire Department arrived at the scene, but their attempts to revive the mother and her baby were useless.

It was further reported that four more people were injured after this accident. And one of the wounded failed the breathalyzer test.

The National Police and the Public Ministry arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation.

With this fatal balance, the victims of traffic accidents in the province of Chiriquí increase to 25.
