The Minsa assured that mortality due to covid-19 in Panama has presented a considerable decrease and fatality has decreased to below 2.0%.
The Ministry of Health (
Minsa ) of Panama assured that in the country there have currently been no deaths associated with the vaccination strategy against
covid-19.
"We have not had deaths from the
vaccine, they have been patients who have died from
covid-19, but it is not attributable to the
vaccine," said Dr. Nadja Porcell, general director of Public Health of the
Minsa.
Porcell explained that mortality due to
covid-19 in Panama has shown a considerable decrease in recent months and in the evolution of the pandemic the fatality rate has decreased to below 2.0%.
The general director of Public Health of the
Minsa said that there has been a significant decrease in the mortality of older adults between the ages of 60 and 80, the age group in which immunization began.
She reiterated that by being vaccinated the person has the possibility of having a positive evolution and developing milder forms of the disease.
The vaccination strategy against
covid-19 in Panama is developed with the formulas of the pharmaceutical companies
Pfizer and
AstraZeneca.
In the case of the
AstraZeneca vaccine, it is being applied voluntarily to men and women over 30 years of age.
According to the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI) in Panama, 1,343,784 doses of the
vaccine against
covid-19 have been applied to date.
