For travelers entering the country, the new measures apply as long as they have digitally registered or presented the vaccination card with the complete scheme.
The mandatory measure to carry out
COVID-19 tests to mobilize within the country, has been eliminated by the Ministry of Health of Panama (
Minsa) as of this date.
This is established in Executive Decree No. 832 of Monday, August 30, 2021, which repeals Executive Decree No. 1690 of December 29, 2020 and Article 3 of Executive Decree No. 816 of August 6, 2021, and dictates other provisions.
“Taking into consideration the results of the vaccination strategy against
COVID-19 at the national and international level, and due to the improvement in the national indicators in relation to this disease, it is considered convenient to eliminate the obligation to carry out
COVID-19 tests to mobilize in the national territory, continental or insular, in order to achieve greater speed in the boarding of passengers at national airports, coastal, river and lake maritime ports, avoiding crowds of people and possible sources of contagion in the sites boarding," indicates the document.
Likewise, through Executive Decree No. 833, which repeals Executive Decree no. 804 of July 22, 2021, the entity establishes that any traveler who enters the national territory by air, land or sea, using commercial or private means, will be exonerated from performing any type of
COVID-19 test at the point of entry and 72-hour preventive quarantine, provided you have digitally registered or physically present the vaccination card with the complete schedule, 14 days after your last dose, approved by the WHO, the FDA or the EMA.
The document indicates that those travelers who come from countries with low epidemiological risk of
COVID-19 determined by the health authority, who do not have a complete vaccination scheme, will need to present a negative result of the
COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) valid for up to 72 hours or at your own cost at the air, sea or land point of entry. If the result is negative, you will be exonerated from the 72-hour preventive quarantine.
It is worth mentioning that through Executive Decree No. 1690 of December 29, 2020, prevention measures were established in places and / or areas with low rates of contagion of
COVID-19 within the national territory.
While through Article 3 of Executive Decree No. 816 of August 6, 2021, a series of requirements were established for people to enter the townships of Taboga Cabecera, Otoque Occidente and Otoque Oriente of the district of Taboga and the districts of Balboa and Chimán, which include Isla Contadora, Isla San José, Isla del Rey, Saboga, from the province of Panama.
