Minsa changes restriction measures in various regions as of August 9

Health Minister Luis Sucre explained that the decision to lift the measures in various regions of the country is due to a decrease in COVID-19 infections.

The Minister of Health of Panama, Luis Sucre announced the lifting and relaxation of mobility restriction measures in various regions of the country as of August 9.

Sucre explained at a press conference that this decision is due to a reduction in new cases of covid-19, the effectiveness of the health strategy, and the behavior of citizens.

West Panama

Luis Sucre reported that in the district of San Carlos, in the province of Panama Oeste, the total quarantine will be lifted on Sunday and the curfew will be relaxed from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. and shops will close from 9:00 pm

In the rest of the districts of the province of Panama Oeste, the measures already established are maintained.

End of restrictions in Chiman, Balboa, Taboga and Santa Isabel districts in Colón

While in the Chiman and Balboa districts , which includes the Contadora, San José and del Rey islands, Minister Sucre announced the lifting of all the measures, leaving them free of restrictions.

Sucre said that in these districts there have been no sustained cases of covid-19 in recent months, but he called for maintaining biosecurity measures to avoid contagion.

In the district of Chepo and in the town of Pacora, the curfew will continue from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. and shops will continue open until 9:00 p.m.

From August 9, the district of Taboga , the islands of Taboga Otoque Oriente and Occidente will also be free from mobility restrictions .

He indicated that to keep these areas free of contagion, surveillance will be reinforced in ports and boarding points, where all travelers will be asked for their vaccination card or negative test less than 72 hours before traveling or boarding.

He asked the transport companies to these islands to support the actions, which will be supervised by the Ministry of Health.

In the district of Santa Isabel , in the province of Colón, the curfew restriction measure will also be lifted.

Metropolitan region

Minister Sucre warned that in the Metropolitan Region there has been a slight increase in active cases of covid-19 in the townships of San Felipe, San Francisco, Bella Vista, Pedregal and El Chorrillo.

In this sense, the Minister of Health reported that epidemiological surveillance will be strengthened.

The curfew is maintained from 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. and the closing of shops at 11:00 p.m. 

Colon province

For the district of Colón, Minister Sucre announced that the total quarantine on Sunday will be lifted and the curfew will be relaxed from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. with the closure of shops from 9:00 p.m.

While in the Donoso district the curfew is from 12:00 am to 4:00 am

In the rest of the districts of Colón, the measures already established are maintained.

Herrera province

In the Chitré district, the Sunday quarantine will be lifted and the curfew will be relaxed from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am and the closing of shops at 9:00 pm

The measures established in the rest of the districts are maintained.

Los Santos Province

Sucre said that the districts of Los Santos and Las Tablas are experiencing a decrease in the number of cases, which is why they could announce in the coming days that they will gradually lift the measures.

In the Pedasí district the curfew is maintained from 12:00 am to 4:00 am and in the Los Santos district from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am

Coclé Province

In the districts of Penonomé, Aguadulce and Antón, the total quarantine will be lifted on Sunday and the curfew remains from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am

In the district of Olá the curfew will be from 12:00 am to 4:00 am

For the rest of the province, a curfew is maintained from 10:00 pm until 4:00 am

Veraguas Province

The Sunday quarantine will be lifted in the Atalaya district, and the curfew is relaxed from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am

While in the districts of Cañazas, Montijo, Calobre, Santa Fe, Río de Jesús and San Francisco the curfew is maintained from 12:00 am to 4:00 am

Chiriquí Province

For the Boqueron and Tierras Altas districts in the province of Chiriquí, the Minister of Health announced the relaxation of the curfew from 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. and the closure of shops from 11:00 p.m.

The measures already established in the rest of the districts continue.

Darien Province

In the district of Sambú, the curfew measure is lifted, as it does not record positive cases of covid-19 in a sustained manner.

In the rest of the province of Darién, the curfew is maintained from 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m.
