Minister Sucre: We must wait for the results of scientific studies of the AstraZeneca vaccine

After the reports of adverse side effects of the AstraZeneca vaccine against COVID-19 , the Minister of Health of Panama, Luis Francisco Sucre, said that "we must wait for the results of the scientific studies of this vaccine," to determine if it remains in the immunization plan or not.
Normally when events like these happen, the obvious course of action to suspend further use of the vaccine from the same company AstraZeneca (in this case). But we have information that they have identified some batches that are related to events in the specific European countries where the issued occurred, he said.

Sucre added that the AstraZeneca company must also do its part and clarify whether or not there is a problem with its vaccine.

Serious allergies such as anaphylaxis have been identified among the possible side effects of the AstraZeneca vaccine; In addition, possible thrombotic events of the cerebral veins (clots) are being studied.

Due to these reports, countries such as Germany, Italy, France, Denmark, Thailand, the Netherlands, Ireland, Norway, Iceland and Bulgaria suspended immunization with this vaccine preventively.

While Austria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Luxembourg recalled a specific batch of the vaccine.
