Meduca suspends distance classes in three schools due to bad weather in Bocas del Toro

Distance classes were suspended at Barriada Guamí, Nuevo Paraíso and Berta López schools in Almirante.
The Ministry of Education of Panama (Meduca) ordered the suspension of distance classes , from Monday, July 26 to Friday, July 30 in three educational centers in the district of Almirante, province of Bocas del Toro.

This, due to the effects of the intense rains that have been registered since last Friday in that region of the country.

Distance classes were suspended at Barriada Guamí, Nuevo Paraíso and Berta López schools in Almirante.

The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) maintains the Red Alert (an event that has produced an impact on a region of the country) for the province of Bocas del Toro.

The Joint Task Force reported until Saturday, 27,175 people affected by the rains that left floods in 27 sectors of that province.

The authorities indicated that nine temporary shelters were set up to shelter 1,408 people. In Almirante, two shelters were set up (La Galera and the Communal Board), while in Changuinola they were located in farm 11, farm 31, Escuela 4 de Abril, La Mesa, Guabito Gymnasium, California Communal Board.

According to ETESA's Hydrometeorology, the incursion of tropical waves 19, 20 and 21 is forecast in the next few hours, generating an increase in rainfall over the Panamanian territory.
