Meduca plans to extend the Solidarity Education Plan until the end of the year
The Meduca Educational Solidarity Plan allows free access to school platforms, YouTube and WhatsApp.
The Ministry of Education ( Meduca ) registers that some 315 thousand students have used the Teams platform and another thousand ESTER. Considering these data, the possibility of extending the Solidarity Educational Plan until the end of the year is contemplated.
According to the head of the entity, Maruja Gorday de Villalobos, the Government Innovation Authority (AIG) is currently in talks with the telephone companies to determine if it is feasible to continue with the plan.
This plan, which began on March 15, was scheduled to end on June 15, offers access to 7GB of data to use the ESTER and Office 365 / MS Teams platforms, WhatsApp, YouTube and Internet pages for education, from free way.
For the development of this plan, the Government reached agreements, for a minimum rate, with the four telephone companies in the country, based on the data evidenced in the behavior of 2020.
This program aims to benefit the thousands of Panamanian students who study remotely amid the pandemic.
Meduca explained that at the end of the first quarter of this school year 2021, a total of 240,023 students and 36,085 teachers maintained the link through the Office 365 tool; More than 1.9 million meetings were organized, in which 8.3 million hours of audio and 6.6 million hours of video were shared.
