Measures for people from South America to enter Panama are officialized

The measures announced by the Ministry of Health for the entry to Panama of people from South America, have already been promulgated by Executive Decree No. 260.

The document establishes that as of 12:01 am on March 31, any person from, who has stayed or transited through South America, who enters the country by air, land or sea, using private or commercial means, must bring I get a negative antigen or PCR test no later than 48 hours before your arrival.

Upon arrival in the country, a PCR or antigen test must be carried out at your cost, prior to entering the country.

"If the result of the test is negative, you must comply with isolation at your home for 5 days or in a hospital hotel for covid travelers, as considered by the health authority. On the fifth day of isolation, the antigen swab test must be repeated and if the result is negative, the quarantine ends ”, the regulations indicate.

However, if the test result is positive, an RT-PCR test must be performed, and analysis typing test by + ICGES, and comply with a quarantine for 14 days in a hotel hospital for covid travelers, as considered by the sanitary Authority.

For such purposes, Annex A is approved, which contains the flow of the Epidemiological surveillance process for travelers from South America and which forms an integral part of this decree.

The decree signed by the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo and the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre, will take effect from this Monday, March 29, 2021.
