Judges of the Court file a complaint for irregularities in the release of José Cossio

Judges María Eugenia López and Luis Fábrega visited Attorney Javier Caraballo this morning to present the complaint.
The Attorney General of the Nation, Javier Caraballo received this morning the visit of the magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice , María Eugenia López and Luis Fábrega, who went to this instance to present the complaint about the irregularities in the release of José Cossio.

After this complaint, the Public Ministry reported through its Twitter account that it will proceed with investigations to determine responsibilities after a judge freed Cossio, despite the fact that he was still charged with escaping from a public jail.

This case generated controversy before Panamanian society, after the National Police announced at the end of August that it had found Cossio, one of the most wanted subjects in the country in Costa del Este, who has been convicted of crimes related to homicide, aggravated robbery and drug trafficking.

Previously, the prosecutor Caraballo announced that the error was made by a judge who commuted the sentence that Cossio was serving in September 2020 and released him from the penitentiary center located on Punta Coco island, but did not verify that a measure of detention after having escaped from the prison.
